Mosaic Tiles
Most people are familiar with Mosaics, the most popular places you see them are in the swimming pool or Roman ruins. Mosaics are very small tiles, they can be glazed or unglazed and are made from porcelain, ceramic, glass or natural stone.
Mosaic is difficult to level as it is made from small cubes bedded in mortar in decorative or geometric designs. Mosaic tiles share many of the characteristics of other hard floors: durable, noisy and fairly cold. However, the myriad grouting joints means that mosaic is far less slippery than floors made of larger tiles or slabs of the same material. These days they are sold in sheets on a mesh backing for ease of fixing. They can give a lovely finish to hallway floors, kitchens and bathrooms and make a dramatic statement.
